Musical Costumes and Concepts

CONCEPTS AND STYLES:

Kanga Kapers play  a wide variety of musical styles: Jazz, Latin, Mexican, Fun, Children's songs, Popular, Australiana and Funk. And if given enough notice, they can even add particular songs to their repertoire. No matter what they play, the audience will be captivated by their fun, energy and choreography.

Trumpet  blows the melody, sax improvises like a jazz pro and the trombone beefs out the bass line. All accompanied by a drummer with a never ending range of styles and grooves.

Depending on the concept or costume, Kanga Kapers can alter their repertoire

Kanga's: If you book the Kangaroos, for example, expect an emphasis on Australiana, as well as a combination of fun tunes and jazz. Waltzing Matilda, Jazzed up Advance Australia Fair and Happy Little Vegemites. They will hop around a shopping centre, stage a show at a festival or a conga line through a sporting event and parade. Audience interaction and lots of energy.

Mexican Chicas: The Mexican Chicas will play many Latin, Spanish and Mexican tunes. Mexican Hat Dance, Teqila, La Cucaracha and the Spanish Flea are perfect examples. Mexican jokes, comedy and fun. Mexican Mariachi bands are traditionally men, so keep an eye on the musicians, they may not be what they seem. Lots of tequila, guacamole and Mexican grunt!

The Jockettes: They play a combination of fun tunes, plus an emphasis on racing and sporting songs. For example, the famous trumpet fanfare heard at the Melbourne Cup and the William Tell Overture. They will horse around, do a race call and add fun, music and comedy to the racing season.

The Candy Girls: Great for Movie Openings, Restaurants, Shopping Centres and more. Julie Andrew Style tunes, fun music and choreography.

The Glamettes: When booking the seventies glam act, naturally expect an emphasis on some favourites from that decade. Abba, Village People and Kiss! Big wigs, clashing colours and platform shoes.

French Chefs: Cordon bleau they may not be, but these Frenchies, with false moustaches will be great for any food festival! French banter and the French National Anthem will be played with pride at every opportunity.

Olympic Zorbas: They may just remind you of three Goddess's from Greece, or maybe not! Zorba, Olympic Fanfare, Sporting Music and some Greek Dancing!

The Chrissys: Will play festive tunes and jazzy Christmas carols. They will rove through a shopping centre or function, wishing you a Merry Christmas in their own quirky way. They won't stand still for long, expect fanfares from park benches, audience interaction and festive cheer.

The Jive Bunny's: Unique Easter entertainment. They can hop around a shopping centre, give out Easter eggs, and even nibble on the odd carrot - chocolate variety of course!

Tennis Kapers:

Three gorgeous gals in tennis frocks and hot pink accessories. Their warm-ups may not be strictly athletic, but they'll certainly stretch your imagination. They'll intersperse their fine sporting melodies with jogging, push-ups and the odd musical tennis match.
